IMPLANT EXPLANTATION
Breast Implant Removal, also known as explantation, is the process of removing breast implants that have undergone changes over time and are no longer needed or wanted. The ideal implant removal typically includes a breast lift and sometimes an “En Bloc” capsulectomy, where the scar tissue is completely removed.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
Breast Explantation is an excellent option if smaller breasts are better suited to your desired appearance. Some women become very active in sports and find that large breasts make it more difficult to excel in vigorous activities. To be eligible for Breast Implant Removal, you must be in good general health. Your complete medical history will be evaluated and discussed during the consultation phase.
PROCEDURE
This procedure is performed under anesthesia and usually takes 2-3 hours. An incision removes existing implants, and the tissue is reshaped to create an attractive, youthful contour. Sometimes, removal must include a capsulotomy and lift as well.
RECOVERY
Some discomfort, swelling, and bruising may occur after the Breast Implant Removal procedure. These symptoms typically disappear after a few days, and patients can return to work after a week. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for three weeks.
RESULTS
The results are immediate and permanent, and the incisions are discreet and often fade significantly over time.
COST
The cost for Implant Explantation can vary depending on the patient’s individual needs, but it is usually between $5,000 – $9,000.
