BREAST REDUCTION
Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue, and skin to achieve a breast size that is more proportionate to your body.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
This procedure is an excellent option for those with disproportionately large breasts who are seeking a smaller size to better suit their body type. Overly large breasts can cause physical issues such as neck or back discomfort and under-breast rashes. It is important to note that the emotional discomfort often associated with having large breasts is as significant a factor as physical distress and pain.
PROCEDURE
Breast reduction surgery is performed under general anesthesia through incisions on your breasts to remove excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin. There are different techniques, such as liposuction, but the method used will depend on the amount of breast tissue removed. Your condition and breast composition will determine the technique, and this will be discussed during your pre-operative consultation.
RECOVERY
You can expect some tiredness, discomfort, and pain for a few days after the surgery. You will need to wear a post-operative bra for a couple of weeks and have dressings over your incisions for a few days. Most patients can return to work after two weeks and are cleared for physical activity between six to eight weeks.
RESULTS
The results of breast reduction are immediately visible. Although there will be some initial swelling, it will subside over time, and the incision lines will fade. Satisfaction with your new image should continue to grow as you recover.r.
COST
The cost for breast reduction can vary depending on each patient’s individual needs, but it typically ranges from $9,000 – $9,500.
