Otoplasty is a very safe and straightforward surgical procedure. During Otoplasty, the ears can be reshaped, resized, and repositioned. They use a precise and well-planned approach to modify the proportions of the ears in a way that appears completely natural.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?

Otoplasty is a procedure for anyone dissatisfied with their ears’ appearance. Whether you find them too large for your face, abnormally shaped, or the position different from where you want them to be.

PROCEDURE

The approach will depend on each individual’s needs. To correct misshapen ears, an incision is made behind the ear where scarring will be hidden. The cartilage is then sculpted into the desired shape. To correct protruding or misshapen ears, skin is removed, and cartilage is used as needed; the remainder of the skin is repositioned using permanent sutures. The procedure can take up to 2 hours and is done under general anesthesia.

RECOVERY

Recovering from Otoplasty can take 1 to 2 weeks. For the first 2-3 days, a special headband will be needed. Patients will need to take time off from work and other everyday activities. Typical side effects include soreness, swelling and bruising, which should subside over time.

RESULTS

Although there is an immediate change, most patients see the final position and shape of ears after 3 to 4 weeks of recovery. Results are permanent.
