WHAT IS AN IDEAL LABIAPLASTY?
Labiaplasty is a surgery intended to reduce the size of external vaginal labia; it is ideal for bringing back their natural size and appearance. The procedure enhances general vaginal labia appearance, as they may have increased their volume due to childbirth or genetics.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
The ideal candidates for labiaplasty are women who feel uncomfortable regarding their genital’s appearance, either for aesthetic reasons or physical discomfort.
Labiaplasty surgery is done under general anesthesia and takes about 1 hour. The procedure involves an incision in the genital area, through which excess skin and tissue are removed.
The patient may experience physical discomfort in that area during the first days. The early recovery period may last a week, but the swelling will decrease, and the stitches will fall out naturally. Patients may go back to work after a week. It is advisable to avoid sexual intercourse during the first four or five weeks after surgery, as stitches may loosen up or fall out, thus causing pain and delaying the healing process.
The results of labiaplasty are permanent. The early results may be seen after three months; the final results will become evident a year after performing the procedure.
The cost of labiaplasty is usually $4,500, but it may vary according to each patient’s needs.
