What is a Neck Lift?
Neck Lift surgery corrects the problem of excess fat and sagging skin of the neck.
Am I a good candidate for Neck Lift surgery?
If you are a physically healthy man or woman, with realistic expectations, and you want to improve the appearance of your fleshy neck, jowls, neck banding and “turkey waddle” then you are a good candidate.
What are the limitations of a Neck Lift surgery?
A neck lift deals only with the neck. It does not correct problems of the face such as lines, wrinkles, grooves and sagging skin. These are corrected by a FaceLift and Eyelid lift along with injectable fillers.
Where will Dr. Leong perform my Neck Lift surgery?
Dr. Leong will perform your Neck Lift surgery in a state-of-the-art, out-patient surgery center, or at one of several outstanding Pittsburgh area hospitals where Dr. Leong has admitting privileges to perform facial plastic surgery.
What type of anesthesia will be used?
Your Neck Lift surgery can be done using either local anesthesia combined with sedaton or with general anesthesia. This will be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Leong.
What about incisions?
Incisions for Neck Lift surgery are typically made under the chin and behind the ears. This will depend upon your particular case and the technique Dr. Leong decides to use.
How long will my Neck Lift surgery take?
Plan on two to three hours. Unless it is performed in combination with other procedures, it may take longer.
What is recovery like after Neck Lift surgery?
Bruising, swelling and mild discomfort and numbness are normal and to be expected. These diminish a little each day, and your discomfort will be easily managed with oral pain medication prescribed by Dr. Leong. You will need to keep your head elevated as much as possible for 2-3 weeks to help reduce swelling. Bruising and numbness will take a few weeks to fade completely.
When will I be able to return to work and normal activities?
Dr. Leong will determine this as your healing progresses, but typically his patients are presentable and able to return to work within 10-14 days after surgery. You will need to restrict strenuous activities, such as weight lifting, bending, stooping and straining for about 3 weeks.
Will stitches have to be removed?
Yes. Dr. Leong usually removes them within 7-10 days after your surgery.
Does insurance pay for Neck Lift surgery?
Neck Lift surgery is considered a “cosmetic” surgery and is not usually covered by medical insurance.
Is Financing available for Neck Lift surgery?
Yes. Today there are many cosmetic procedures that can be financed with Care Credit financing.
Remember: If it doesn’t look natural – it doesn’t look good. Dr. Leong is skilled in achieving the most natural looking results possible - he’s a specialist and you can trust your face to him.
