Questions about Sculptra Treatments:

Is Sculptra® right for me?

It could be if you want to rejuvenate hollow, sunken areas of your face and restore volume and contour. Dr. Leong will be able to determine this during your personal consultation with him.

What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra is a synthetic, injectable material know as poly-L-lactic acid that is derived from natural components and is biocompatible. It has been used for years as a main component in sutures, soft tissue implants and other types of implants used in humans.

How does Sculptra® work?
After being injected below the skin’s surface, in the area of fat loss, it provides an increase in skin thickness. Visible results will be evident within the first few treatments.

How soon will I see the results from Sculptra?
You will notice an immediate fullness but this is caused by swelling at first. The true results from your Sculptra® injections will gradually be seen as the formulation works to increase skin thickness.

How many Sculptra treatments will I need?
Dr. Leong will determine this during your personal consultation with him. Each patient is different, and “one treatment does not fit all” – so it varies case by case.

Do Sculptra® injections hurt?
Yes – any injection is uncomfortable. Dr. Leong is very skilled in injection treatments as he has performed hundreds of them; he performs them on a regular basis and he uses a special technique to help minimize discomfort. A local or topical anesthetic is often used to help minimize discomfort also.

What should I expect right after my Sculptra® treatment?
Redness, swelling, bruising and discomfort in the treatment areas is normal and to be expected. These discomforts decreases gradually each day until gone – in the meantime use of ice packs is very effective to reduce swelling and discomfort. You should massage the treatment areas a few times daily for a few days. Avoid excessive sun and UV lamp exposure – until all swelling is gone.

Can I return to work after my Sculptra treatment?
Many patients return to work right after their treatment. You may choose to do the same. Mineral make-up works well to camouflage the swelling and bruising and also aids in the healing process.

Will insurance pay for my Sculptra® treatments?
You need to check with your insurance company about this. If it is performed strictly as a cosmetic procedure – no, insurance will not cover the cost.

Is there any financing available to help cover the cost of Sculptra® treatments?
Yes – today there are many cosmetic procedures that can be financed with Care Credit financing.

Remember: If it doesn’t look natural – it doesn’t look good. Dr. Leong is skilled in achieving the most natural looking results possible - he’s a specialist and you can trust your face to him.
