What is lip augmentation?
Dr. Leong performs lip augmentation to add or restore fullness, shape and contour to the lips. This is a cosmetic procedure which results in either temporary or permanent outcomes. Dr. Leong uses fillers such as Collagen, Alloderm, fat, Goretex and hyaluronic acid.

Are all men and women good candidates for lip augmentation?
Men and women who want to add or restore a more youthful, full and shapely appearance to their lips can be good candidates. A good candidate must be in good health and have realistic expectations.

Where does Dr. Leong perform lip augmentations?
Dr. Leong performs lip augmentations in his state-of-the-art office as an out-patient procedure.

Does lip augmentation require anesthesia?
This depends upon the technique chosen for your procedure. Topical anesthetic is used for some procedures while local is used for others.

How long does a lip augmentation procedure take?
Temporary filler procedures usually take just a few minutes while more complex procedures require from 30 – 60 minutes or more.

Are lip augmentation procedures painful?
No. Dr. Leong performs complete dental blocks that make the procedure virtually painless. The lips are a very sensitive area and Dr. Leong does not believe you should have to suffer to get the look you want. After the procedure, any discomfort is easily managed with oral pain medication.

What kind of recovery is involved?
Injectable treatments to the lips are easily tolerated and result in occasional minor bruising and swelling. Permanent lip enhancement with Gortex™ involves more bruising and swelling and will take several days to resolve.

Will I need to take time off work?
Not for temporary injectable treatments of the lip. Patients undergoing permanent lip enhancement with Gortex™ are presentable and able to return to work after 4-5 days.

Will insurance pay for my lip augmentation?
If your lip augmentation is done for cosmetic reasons only your insurance will not cover it. If Dr. Leong is doing a procedure to correct a scar or indentation from an injury or accident, your insurance may cover your treatment. Is there any financing available for lip augmentation? Yes – today there are many cosmetic procedures that can be financed with Care Credit financing.
