How will I know what is the right treatment combination for me?
Dr. Leong personally meets with you during your initial consultation. During that time you will discuss your concerns and expectations and answer all your questions. He will design a treatment plan for you that will meet your needs specifically.
What is Radiesse and how does it work?
Radiesse injectable filler is used in various cosmetic, reconstructive and therapeutic treatments worldwide. It is composed of smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) particles which are suspended in a water-based gel carrier. Radiesse provides long-lasting volume replacement for up to two years or longer.
Are Radiesse injections painful and how long does a treatment take?
Dr. Leong is skilled in giving the injections so discomfort is very minimal. A local or topical anesthetic is used before treatment begins. Treatments usually take from 15 to 30 minutes using a very fine needle and precisely measured doses.
When will I see results from my Radiesse treatment and will I need more than one?
All patients note immediate results – with long lasting benefits. In terms of IPL (intense pulsed light) treatments, every case is different and Dr. Leong will determine what is right for you. Follow-up treatments may be needed but are well worth it.
How does IPL work?
IPL – intense pulsed light is energy from flashes of light that pass through the skin to correct age-related and lifestyles related damage such as brown spots, skin pigmentation, acne scars etc. This breaks up the damaged area and encourages new, healthy skin growth.
What does a treatment feel like?
Patients tell us it feels like the snap of a rubber band. This feeling occurs with each pulse of light much like a pinch or slight stinging sensation.
Are there any side effects?
The Palomar StarLux 500 system is very safe and gentle. Side effects are rare but could occur. These may include: slight reddening or swelling at the treatment sites – this typically goes away within a few hours. It is important to limit sun exposure while under treatment.
What is Hyaluronic acid and how is it used?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring component produced by our bodies that helps to keep skin younger looking by encouraging collagen and elastin production. HA injections are similar to Radiesse injections and both products replace volume and reduce unwanted signs of aging in the skin. When combined with IPL treatments – HA or Radiesse injections achieve wonderful results in taking years off your hands. These injections are done much the same as for Radiesse dermal filler – so refer to that section for questions about HA treatment.
What should I expect right after my Hand Rejuvenation treatment?
Some swelling, bruising and minor discomfort in the treatment areas is normal and to be expected. This discomfort decreases rapidly - in the meantime ice packs can be helpful to address swelling and discomfort. You should massage the treatment areas a few times daily for a few days. Avoid excessive sun and UV lamp exposure – until all swelling is gone.
Can I return to work after my treatment?
Many patients return to work right after their treatment. You may choose to do the same.
Will insurance pay for my Hand Rejuvenation treatments?
No, this is a cosmetic treatment, insurance will not cover the cost.
Is financing available to help cover the cost of Hand Rejuvenation treatments?
Yes – today there are many cosmetic procedures that can be financed with Care Credit financing.
Remember: If it doesn’t look natural – it doesn’t look good. Dr. Leong is skilled in achieving the most natural looking results possible - he’s a specialist and you can trust your face to him.
