


Could you explain what the Botox injection does?
Botox is a neuromuscular inhibitor. When injected into a muscle it prevents muscle contraction thus causing the muscle to relax. This then allows the wrinkles, furrows and creases that the muscle contractions normally cause to smooth out and become unnoticeable.
Am I a Good Candidate for Botox Cosmetic?
If you want to eliminate/reduce heavy vertical creases between your eyebrows, flatten deep forehead wrinkles and smooth out Crow’s feet, or clean up ugly smoker’s lines above your upper lip, Dr. Leong considers you a good candidate for his Botox treatment plan. You must be in otherwise good health and be realistic about your goals.
Do Men and Women get Botox treatments?
Absolutely! Today men are constantly in career -competition in the corporate world and realize they have to stay looking good! Both men and women today are more health conscious and want to look as good as they feel. Dr. Leong sees both men and women of all ages and all ethnicities for Botox treatments.
Is Botox an in-office treatment?
Yes. Botox is an in-office, lunch hour treatment. Some people apply mineral make up prior to returning to work , but this is generally unnecessary.
Will I need anesthesia?
No. It is not needed. Dr. Leong can use a local anesthetic if needed.
Are the Botox injections painful?
No. Patients tell us they experience a temporary burning sensation only.
How long does a Botox treatment session last?
Dr. Leong performs treatments that last from a few minutes to an hour, depending upon the extensiveness of the treatment.
Is there any downtime after a Botox treatment?
Dr. Leong’s patients rarely require downtime. In fact it is the norm for his patients to resume normal activities right after their treatment.
What are the possible side effects or complications from Botox?
In rare cases some patients may not see any improvement in their condition after treatment. Each person’s muscle activity is different and some people require somewhat higher doses of Botox. Dr. Leong will recognize this need at the time of your follow-up appointment and increase the dose accordingly. This is another example of the benefit of having Dr. Leong perform the injections himself, he has the experience and knowledge to recognize individual differences and react appropriately. If your injections are performed by a technician with lesser training, you may miss out on these nuances. Other patients may experience minor numbness, swelling and/or a burning sensation and bruising. These may be expected in some cases, but goes away over a few days.
Will insurance cover my Botox treatments?
When Botox is given as a cosmetic procedure insurance normally does not pay for it. If it is used for medical treatment, coverage may be available. Ask your insurance carrier.
Can I get financing for Botox treatments?
Yes. Today there are many cosmetic procedures that can be financed with Care Credit financing.
