BOTOX® Cosmetic reduces wrinkles by weakening and relaxing the muscles that cause skin to wrinkle. Beyond smoothing out smile and frown lines, BOTOX Cosmetic injections can create a lifting effect by relaxing the muscles that pull down on the eyebrows. This not only raises the ends of the eyebrows into a more pleasing arch, but also opens the eyes, reducing the “hooded” appearance so common in middle aged eyes.
It’s important to note that this procedure is designed for mild brow drooping only. If your goals are better met with a Surgical Brow Lift, Dr. Leong will discuss the options with you during the consultation. As a facial plastic surgery specialist, Dr. Leong is experienced with all different methods of performing Brow Lifts (surgical and non-surgical), so you can be assured he’ll make the recommendation that is best for you, rather than a “standard” recommendation.
Dr. Leong believes non-surgical options should be made available to patients who want an improvement in their appearance, but are not ready to undergo surgery. The Non-Surgical Brow Lift allows the patient to lift the brows and “open up” the eyes using BOTOX Cosmetic instead of surgery. Traditional Brow Lift surgery involves an incision from ear to ear, lifting the skin, and adjusting the muscles in the brow. When surgical intervention is desired, Dr. Leong prefers the Endoscopic Brow Lift. This procedure allows the same excellent and durable results as the traditional approach, without the large incision and scalp numbness. An Upper Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) is also a common surgical option. This procedure eliminates excess eyelid skin. However, some patients need relatively minor corrections and don’t want surgery, for these patients the BOTOX Brow Lift may be an appropriate option.
